The Douay-Rheims Bible is a Roman Catholic version of the Bible translated from the Latin Vulgate into English, at the University of Douai, France. The Fresh Testament was published in 1582 at Rheims in northern France and was thus known as the Douay-Rheims.
This is a version revised by the English Catholic bishop Richard Challoner and published in 1752. He updated vocabulary, spelling, and structure to create the Bible more readable.
